Virginia Black

Virginia Black is the editor of three Indiana newspapers: the Lafayette Journal & Courier, the Muncie Star Press and the Richmond Palladium-Item.

She's formerly the news adviser for the student-run Purdue Exponent, and a former deputy managing editor/news and investigative reporter/columnist of the South Bend Tribune, where she won many statewide awards, including HSPA's Story of the Year and Indiana AP's Kent Cooper Award.

She has served on the board of the Indiana Associated Press Managing Editors. Previously, she also worked for newspapers in Fort Wayne, Evansville and Hammond.

The mother of two sons, Black is working to restore her family’s 1860s homestead in central Indiana. She says she “has an affinity for stories off the beaten path and seems to attract stray cats.” She lives in Lafayette.
